NOTICE OF RACE

Preamble
The notation ‘[NP]’ in a rule means that a boat may not protest another boat for breaking that rule. This changes RRS 60.1.
The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule means the penalty for breaking this rule may, at the discretion of the jury, be more or less than a single disqualification. This changes Rule 60.5(c)

1 RULES
1.1 The event is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The Inland Lake Yachting Association (ILYA) C Scow Class Rules apply.

2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 0800 on June 12, 2026 at the Erieau Yacht Club.
2.2 The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at the Erieau Yacht Club.

3 COMMUNICATION
3.1 The Official Notice Board is located inside the Erieau Yacht Club clubhouse.
3.2 [DP] All boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of communicating on channels 68 to 74.
3.3 On the water, the race committee may make courtesy broadcasts to competitors on VHF radio. The channel will be stated in the SIs.
3.4 [DP] While racing, except in an emergency, a boat shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats.

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The event is open to all boats of the C Scow class.
4.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and submitting it, together with the required fee, to Erieau Yacht Club, 680 Ross Lane, Erieau, ON N0P 1N0 by June 14, 2026.
4.3 To be considered an entry in the event, a boat shall complete all registration requirements and pay all fees.

5 FEES
5.1 Entry fees including lunch and dinner on both Saturday and Sunday are as follows: Entry Fee: payable on Saturday June from 0800 – 1000 at time of registration. Amount: $140 USD or $160 CDN

6 CREW LIMITATIONS
6.1 A minimum of two crew per boat is required. See class rule 2.8.2.

7 SCHEDULE
7.1 Registration Date: June 13, 2026 From: 0800 hrs To: 1000 hrs
7.2 Dates of racing: June 13 and 14, 2026
7.3 Number of races: A total of seven races are scheduled. The maximum number of races per day is five.
7.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1030 hrs on Saturday, June 13 and is 1000 hrs on Sunday June 14.
7.5 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 1200 hrs.

8 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
8.1 Each boat shall be in possession of a valid measurement certificate.

9 VENUE
9.1 The racing area will be to the north of Erieau Yacht Club on Rondeau Bay and/or to the south of the town of Erieau on Lake Ontario.

10 COURSES
10.1 The course will be windward / leeward LA2.
10.2 The marks that may be used are as follows:
The windward and leeward marks will be an orange tetrahedron. The windward change mark will be a yellow tetrahedron.
The starting line will be between the signal boat and a red ball.

11 PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 A boat may take a One Turn Penalty when she may have broken one or more rules of Part 2 in an incident while racing. However, when she may have broken one or more rules of Part 2 while in the zone around a mark (other than the starting mark), her penalty will be a Two-Turns Penalty. This changes Rules 44.1.

12 SCORING
12.1 The scoring system follows Appendix A.
12.2 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
12.3 (a) When fewer than six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When six or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

13 CHARTERED OR LOANED BOATS
13.1 A chartered or loaned boat may carry national letters or a sail number in contravention of her class rules, provided that the race committee has approved her sail identification before the first race. See RRS G3.

14 RISK STATEMENT
14.1 RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes. Erieau Yacht Club assumes no liability or responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or death to any participant.

15 INSURANCE
15.1 Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance. The organizing authority does not accept any responsibility for verifying that a boat has valid third-party liability insurance.

16 PRIZES
16.1 Trophies will be given for first, second and third place.
