Commodore Trevor Dixon

Trevor is the official representative of the Erieau Yacht Club and is responsible for the overall management of the Club. He sets the 2026 EYC’s season agenda, ensures the Club runs in adherence with the Bylaws, Policies and Rules, and works toward developing long-term, strategic plans. Trevor, his wife Leslie, and their children are long-time members of the EYC and enjoy life from their homestead overlooking Lake Erie.

Vice Commodore Brenda Easton

Brenda is second-in-command at the EYC and will assume responsibility in the Commodore’s absence. She chairs the Junior Sailing Committee and oversees the management of the Swim & Sail Camp. Brenda’s father, Bev Easton, was Commodore EYC 1972 and he and wife Diane are lifelong members. As a child, Brenda sailed Larks with her dad and in her teenage years with her crew. She took swimming lessons at EYC all the way to Bronze Cross. She continues to race in the Lark Fleet every summer. With the support of all the other EYC members, she hopes to be available to help whenever needed.

Rear Commodore Sara Lin Barron

As Rear Commodore, Sara coordinates events like the Pied Piper Parade and the Commodore’s Picnic. With her nautical knowledge and experience with not-for-profit organizations, she is skilled at sourcing fundraising opportunities and administrating strategic plans to keep the Club current and running smoothly. Her family have been long-time members of the EYC. Sara sails Larks and C-Scows.

Matthew Poile, Chair

Matt sets the EYC Board of Directors agendas and pilots the meetings. He assists in maintaining compliance with all Bylaws, Rules and Policies and is key to the EYC’s strategic and financial planning. He facilitates and heads the Annual General Meeting. A long-time member and former Commodore, Matt is a dedicated C-Scow sailor and hosts an annual C-Scow Regatta every year.

Chris Dutton, Treasurer

As Board Treasurer, Chris maintains the EYC’s financial health by managing the annual budget and cash flow. He also ensures the Club follows financial reporting requirements and oversees annual audits. Chris steers the financial aspects of strategic planning. Chris also pilots the EYC barge for all races, complete with theme music and costumes.

Kelly Shillington, Membership Director

Kelly is responsible for EYC member recruitment, engagement and retention. She responds to all inquiries about membership, as well as maintaining communication with members. Kelly also records membership and boat registration payments. A former Commodore, Kelly’s parents and extended family have been integral to the Club. She races in the Lark fleet every summer.

Laila Farrell, Secretary

Laila manages EYC meeting minutes and records. She developed and designed the EYC website and continues to act as webmaster for the Club. She has been a member of the Communications Committee for three years. Her professional experience has been in the nonprofit, not-for-profit, and membership association industries. Although she is not a sailor, she swears like one and is a scallywag at heart.

Mark Allot, Offshore Fleet Committee Chair

Dan Bliss, Grounds & Waterfront Committee Chair

Dan is responsible for projects that maintain or repair the exterior of the clubhouse, the land, and the waterfront. He also recommends needed changes to improve the Club. Dan, who grew up in Erieau, is a long-time EYC member and C Scow sailor. Both of his daughters are Swim & Sail campers.

Tim Bresnahan

John Kerr, Communications Committee Chair

After growing up at the EYC John served two years as Commodore then three as Chair of the Board. He steered us through the sticky pandemic years and kept the club moving forward. Working in the tech industry, John brings his expertise to the Club website and formed and is currently chair of the Communications Committee. John returned to sailing last summer and raced in the lark fleet aboard the Colleen Rhu.
